About this Oil:
This piece was inspired by a group of ravens I had living near my home in Colorado. The ravens seemed to enjoy taunting my dogs...tag-teaming to steal food, chew toys, and anything else my dogs didn't want them to have.

I re-imagined the scene with wolves rather than dogs. In the wild, wolves and ravens share an uneasy truce most of the time. In this piece, three ravens distract the wolf while another raven makes off with the prize. The prize in this piece is a Hopi pendant symbolizing the sun, a call-back to how Raven brought light to the world in the spiritual traditions of the peoples of the Northwest Coast of North America.
