About this oil:
It was early morning and as I walked along some of the back roads near my sister's home to get my morning exercise, I came across a farm where sheep were being raised. The lovely light struck me first -- soft and warm. But the things that prompted me to paint it were the potential for a beautiful composition, and its quiet, peaceful, pastoral quality.
 
In order to get the peaceful effect I wanted, I used a layered approach to my paint application. Alternating between saturated and more muted colors gave me the final effect I wanted: softness, but still a lot of movement and interest to every area of the painting.
