New American Bison parents enjoy a quiet morning on the Colorado prairie near Denver.
My challenge with this piece was actually to tame my natural inclination to paint this in a HUGE format. Bison are large, imposing creatures and I love doing large paintings of them. But not everyone has room for a 5 foot canvas, so I decided to go small for this piece.
I loved the calmness and serenity of the bison that morning, so that's the mood I tried to convey here.
