About this oil:
After a long summer, the fields of the western US often turn to a beautiful, golden color. This golden glow is made especially beautiful in the late afternoon, as the sun begins to set.
 
The challenge with this piece was figuring out how to create that glow in the grasses. I used Wolf Kahn's method of layering several different shades of gold, made stronger by the judicious use of cooler, more neutral colors.
