Oil on Canvas, 20in x 24n
Exhibited: In Studio, Cowgirl Artists of America Show, Ft Worth
Thank you to the new collectors who purchased this work for their Austin, TX, home.
About this oil:
A longhorn steer strikes a serene pose during a Hill Country sunset.
This piece started off as a demonstration piece at the Cowgirl Artists of America Show in Ft. Worth, Texas. While working on this painting in front of a crowd in the Stockyards Shopping District, I realized that it could be much more than a simple demo piece. The start of the painting felt almost effortless -- I think being distracted by a crowd of onlookers kept the analytical side of my brain busy, which meant my creative side could just play with paint.
Once back home a few days later, I finished the piece by punching up the color just a bit, and adding a little more obvious brushwork to the background. This was one of those paintings that felt as if it (almost) painted itself!
From the purchaser, Pamela M.:
"My husband and I are absolutely in love with 'Autumn Evening'! You have captured the colors and feel of a Hill Country sunset perfectly. Every time we look at the painting it makes us smile. We have hung it in our breakfast bar area of our Austin home so that we can see it every morning. Love it...thank you!"
